Entrepreneurs from China and Mozambique have gathered in Maputo to boost bilateral trade co-operation, particularly in engineering, construction and agriculture, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
The Chinese delegation, headed by the Anhui Deputy Governor, Zhou Xi'an, traveled to Maputo in the framework of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) to strengthen relations in various sectors of economic activity as well as local government.
Upon receipt of the delegation, Transport and Communications Minister Carlos Mesquita said that from 2013 to 2018, 148 projects with direct Chinese investments of $ 751 million were approved, making China the largest investor and economic partner in Mozambique.
Mr Mesquita also told members of the delegation that his government is carrying out legislative reforms to improve the business environment, reduce bureaucracy and simplify procedures.
"The investment made by companies from China to Mozambique in the last five years has allowed the creation of 20,000 jobs," Mesquita said, according to a news agency. (macauhub)
