Gordon Ramsay did more than send “MasterChef Junior” star Ben Watkins wishes, when he was struggling with an extremely rare cancer … tried to help him get the best possible treatment.
The TV chef quietly donates $ 50,000 to Ben in August to cover medical expenses related to his battle with cancer … according to sources close to the situation.
This is exactly the moment when Ramsay and Ben’s collaborators from Season 6 sent him an enthusiastic video, letting him know that they were praying for him and helping him raise money with a GoFundMe.
It’s no secret Ramsay and the “MasterChef” community were very fond of the 14-year-old and we are told that the cooking show is currently trying to find a way to honor him after his death. Also, this GoFundMe now has over $ 200,000 and will be used to support his family.
As we mentioned … Ben died Monday from angiomatous fibrous histiocytoma. He was diagnosed when he was 13 years old, about 2 years after he competed in the show hosted by Ramsay and quickly became a fan favorite.
This form of cancer is so rare, doctors believe Ben was one of only 6 people in the world known to have it.
