The Ebola virus continues to spread

Geneva / Kampala. Ebola's life-threatening virus continues to spread to the Congo of Central Africa, and neighboring countries are worried. In Uganda, 1600 assistants are vaccinated at health centers across the border, Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng said at the weekend.

Ebola suspicious cases have already been reported from southern Sudan, Uganda and even Yemen, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). But in no case was it really an Ebola infection.

Almost 12 million people were tested at border stations in Congo for signs of Ebola. There were 14 suspicious cases, one of which detected the virus.

According to the Congolese Ministry of Health, from the beginning of August to the end of October 250 people have been infected with certainty and another 35 possibly with the Ebola virus. 81 patients had recovered, 180 patients had died.

WHO is concerned about the growing number of Congolese affairs. WHO chief Adhanom Ghebreyesus travels to Congo this week. It is also accompanied by the head of the UN peacekeeping mission, Jean-Pierre Lacroix. (AP)
