A pop-up window was created at the Kornhausbrücke in Bern in record time. It finally managed to open on Saturday.
On Saturday, Sur Le Pont opened at the Kornhausbrücke in Bern.
More than 15,000 visitors visited the pop-up in the first weekend.
Previously, the authority had to be postponed several times due to the storm.
For days the rain upset the organizers of Sur Le Pont. In fact, the largest pop-up window in Switzerland should have opened on Thursday, but due to the weather it was undeniable. On Saturday, the time had finally come. At 12 noon, visitors flock to the famous Kornhaus Bridge, which is currently closed due to a major construction site on Viktoriaplatz.
An ever-changing range of food, bars with drinks and cookies are welcome. There are also yoga and fitness classes, a small outdoor cinema and a drone show. Michelle (28), Leandra (26) and Céline (26) were at Sur Le Pont on the first day and they liked it so much that they decided to stop for an ice cream on a sunny Sunday. “It’s a fascinating location,” they tell 20 Minuten. “And the ice cream is vegan and very nice.”
“Our work is unique”
The organizers also come to a positive conclusion from the first weekend of Sunday. “Even though we were still on the line until the last minute just before 12pm, we are very happy with how the opening went,” says co-organizer Tereq Timmers. “People even lined up just before the opening to be allowed to enter the premises.” Throughout the weekend, the organizers numbered more than 15,000 visitors.
“Our work is unique,” Timmers continues. “As far as we know, there has never been a gastric mile on a bridge anywhere in the world. However, it is not just any bridge, it is the legendary Bern Kornhausbrücke with the most beautiful view of the entire city of Bern. Our goal is to create a brilliant summer spectacle in the heart of the Swiss capital. “
Access only with Covid certificate
If you would like to visit Sur Le Pont, you must show a Covid Certificate. There is an on-site testing center with free rapid antigen testing. The pop-up window remains open in light rain; if thunderstorms, it is closed for safety reasons.
