In total, all seven police regions in the country were coordinated when searching for sex buyers. The operation took place between 17 and 21 September in 18 cities, says Dagens Nyheter. Almost a hundred people were screened when the police crossed suspicious addresses and environments. Initially, electronic dating sites were also searched for where covert prostitution may be suspected.
The police, along with the social services, also come in contact with several women suspected of selling sex.
"To find the victims of crime, you need to look for them, talk to them and give them the opportunity to leave prostitution. It also means that we have seen a picture of the situation in the country," said Per Englund, a police inspector at the National Police Department of the Police, DN.
According to the police, there are currently 1,000 people in Sweden, of whom about 160 are elected from the street. The majority of prostitutes are on the internet.
