South Korea's smartphone maker Samsung unveiled a smartphone prototype that opened as a book at a development conference in San Francisco a few days ago. However, analysts expected the presentation of a very simple smartphone, but only the technology on which it was based would be expected.
At the front of the prototype presented by Samsung over 5,000 software developers and affiliates, a relatively small screen with a diagonal of 11.6 centimeters can be found, while the main screen in the unfolding state is 18.5 centimeters in length.
In folded mode, the device can be used as a regular smartphone. When opened by the user, the application used then moves to a significantly larger screen called Infinity Flex by Samsung. Of course, it is possible to display much more information and content on this screen than on a smaller one. This is not only useful for photos, videos and games, but for example. also for news apps that can display far more messages.
Even better: as Samsun's messages say, up to three applications can be used simultaneously on a scattering device without becoming opaque. For a more comfortable use, a new One UI interface design should be provided. In addition, Google announced that its future version of its operating system will also support foldable phones.
How to view the new smartphone is not yet known. At the development conference, Samsung presented the prototype so that it could not see anything but the screen. Also, it is not known when to launch the new smartphone.
The start of the sale should not be too long. Samsung plans to launch "in the coming months" with the mass production of Infinity Flex. Analysts are therefore expecting Samsung's first hands-free smartphone to be expected in 2019.
As the next generation of Infinity Flex is the next generation, Samsung has invited everyone involved in the development conference to join. If their applications are inappropriate, the fold-out phone will also be a blank device without real content.
