Janet Jackson uses her platform to empower women.

The 52-year-old singer won the Global Icon at the MTV European Music Awards on Sunday night and used her speech to talk about gender equality, fairness and love.

"We accept this prize with deep gratitude. The name of an image is a tremendous honor, but one that comes with enormous responsibility," he told the crowd in Bilbao, Spain. "Tonight I also feel to talk about women whose voices have stifled them."

"I'm one of these women," he continued. "Women who have been mocked, both literally and emotionally Women who have been abused Women who have been denounced Women who have lived in fear I'm standing with you You're my sisters"

The pop star went on to talk about her hope for a more equal future.

"Tonight I had the hope that a new world would appear," he said. "A world where people who care – both men and women – will no longer tolerate gender inequality." Women – our voices will be heard and will be heard when we talk about justice. "

"Talk about a spirit that crosses all borders, recognizes the dignity of all people and confirms the beauty of all religions, talk about acts of true charity, small and big, talk about true love, because it is love that will heal our wounds "Let us lift our voices, let us begin today and let God's amazing love lead the way."

Jackson completed her speech expressing her love for her followers and her son, Eissa Al Mana. "Your mom loves you," he said.

After her animated speech, Jackson continued to play with three of her hits – "Made For Now", "Rhythm Nation" and "All For You".

Back in August, Jackson received the Disney Radio Music Awakening Award and gave the radio station another rejuvenating talk, this time to those who want to make their way to the music industry.

"Never forget your dreams, first of all," Jackson said at the time. "Hold God in your heart. [And] to remain earthed. This is important … I started when I was seven in the industry [and] I think it's important to make sure you listen to your mom, listen to your parents. Stay focused. "

"Make sure you're taking time not only for your job but you're a kid and enjoy the things in the life that kids enjoy," he added. "Be with your friends. Enjoy yourself".
