SINGAPORE: A construction worker was killed in an accident at the Changi East construction site on Friday (February 22nd) after being dropped by a truck dump truck, the Labor Ministry (MOM) said.
"MOM was informed of a fatal accident at a construction site at 31A Tanah Merah Coast Road," the ministry said in response to queries from Channel NewsAsia on Saturday.
"A 27-year-old Indian worker was on the left of a tipping truck at a T junction when the tipping truck made a left turn and hit him down."
MOM added that the site builder was the Joint-Venture of Samsung-Koh Brothers, with manufacturer Changi Airport Group (Singapore).
The deceased worker worked at Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor.
In a statement, the Changi Airport Group stated that it is working with the contractor to help the worker's family.
"We are sorry for the loss of life due to the accident this morning at the Changi East construction site," he said.
"The Changi Airport Group helps the authorities in their investigations and works with the contractor to help the worker's family."
MOM said it was investigating the incident and that all companies involved in dump trucks on the Changi East site have stopped.
