Dakar, April 5 (APS) – The Jaraaf team achieved its goal by defeating Salitas FC 2-0 this Sunday in the 3rd round of the CAF Cup, said coach Cheikh Guèye.
“It is true that we lost a lot of chances, but we remain satisfied with this result that allows us to reposition ourselves in the race to qualify for the next round,” the coach said in an interview with APS.
Prior to this match, Jaraaf was the only team in the qualifying group that had not won a match. With this success, the Medina team returns to the Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS), in 2nd place with 4 points.
With 5 points, Sfaxien Sports Club holds the first place
of the team, while FC Salitas is in last place with 3 points.
In addition to the accounting result, the Senegalese coach is happy that he managed to prepare his game plan, which consists of “doing the river river very quickly in the opponent’s zone”.
“And this game system, we managed to put it in place and not give opportunities by taking the opponent too high”,
Referring to the return meeting, he said that Jaraaf will go “with a competitive spirit to return with a positive result”. He assures us that the Jaraaf team will play to the fullest of their qualifying opportunities.
We have a psychological advantage, our opponent accepts us
“outside its bases,” he said, noting that the Senegalese representative has a more accurate idea of the forces that exist in this qualifying group.
On the side of FC Salitas, the assistant coach, Ambasse Ouédraogo
regrets the “mistakes made by the players”.
“Jaraaf played the hit well and won,” he said. He promises that his team will prepare to win the return leg.
The goal remains the qualifier for the quarterfinals of the CAF Cup, which requires victory in the next meeting, he said.
The return leg is scheduled for April 11 in Porto Novo (Benin), where the Ouagadougou match was suspended by the African Football Confederation (CAF).
