SAAMI and Spanish Navantia Marine Industries (SAI) launched their joint venture called Industries SAMI Navantia Naval, in line with the agreement signed by both parties last April to design and build 5 Avanti 2200 frigates ,
Fight against the recent visit of His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, the Prince of the Prince and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, in the Spanish capital.
The joint venture signing ceremony took place on Tuesday at Riyadh and was officially inaugurated by Ahmed Al Khatib, Managing Director of the Saudi Military Industries Company and Chief Executive Officer of Navantia Gonzalo Alcazar, along with officials from both sides.
The consortium will mainly concentrate on building all aspects of marine combat systems from project management, installation and connection of combat systems, engineering and system design, hardware and software development and testing, simulation development, installation and the integration of combat systems on the last ship of the Spanish project, apart from the logistics and training programs. The new project is expected to support the efforts of the Saudi Army to regulate 50% of military spending within the Vision 2030 Kingdom by arranging all work on ship systems, including shipbuilding and integration.
The inauguration of this project results from the announcement by the Prince of Koran to settle 50% of military spending by 2030. It will also make a significant contribution to strengthening the readiness of the armed forces in Saudi Arabia and to creating jobs and training for the Saudi youth, thus increasing the contribution of Saudi citizens to industry.

The fourth and fifth craft will be launched in Saudi Arabia in accordance with the consortium approved by Saudi Military Industries and Navantia.
