Most stars are born in groups that can belong to thousands: they are formed by huge clouds of gas and dust, increasing their density and crashing into plasma balls, which then become stars. Scientists believe that Sun, the star of our solar system, formed 4.57 billion years ago.

According to astronomers, up to 85% of all stars can consist of binary systems (or even triple or square). In addition, more than half of the known Sun analogs are in binary systems.

The sun does not have a pair – and that seems strange: scientists believe our star had a couple. A recent study, by the way, has shown that most, if not all, stars are born with a twin.

It is known that the Sun really has relatives. It's very difficult to locate, given the number of stars in the Galaxy and the fact that the potential twins of the sun are widely dispersed throughout the galaxy. So far, scientists have discovered only a few candidates for such stars.

In a new study by experts from Portugal, not only a relative of the Sun was discovered, but, as noted, a "special" star, very similar to ours. We are talking about the star HD 186302, which is about 184 light years away from us – a yellow dwarf just larger than the Sun, which has about the same surface temperature and brightness. This star also has a chemical composition surprisingly similar to the Sun and was formed, according to calculations, about 4.5 billion years ago. This is even more consistent with the Sun than the star HD 162826, recognized as a relative of our star in 2014.

Scientists do not yet know exactly where the sun was formed, so the study of potential sun-related relatives can give a new key to understanding the history of our solar system. In addition, the only known part of life in the Universe is the Solar System: it means that the size, age, temperature, brightness and chemical composition of the Sun are appropriate for the appearance of life – in the form it knows us. Considering this, the study of the relatives of the Sun takes another important meaning: perhaps, the planets around them have also developed life?

In the future, researchers hope to find out if there are planets in the detected HD 186302. It is especially interesting whether this star, similar to the Sun, has a rocky planet in the habitable zone: perhaps experts will be able to find "Earth 2.0, in orbit around the Sun 2.0 "?
