Firefighter Interceptor Horse in the Arcoz de Valdevez Aqueduct: "The life of the firefighter is not even easy"

The Arcos de Valdevez Chamber of Deputies approved for the year 2019 a budget of almost 28 million euros, plus one million than in 2018, the mayor of Lusitania said today.

Speaking to Lusa, João Manuel Esteves said the project, which was adopted by the majority of the PSD (six elements), "is based on funding from EU funds" and said the document "will provide people, families and business investments ".

The Arcos de Valdevez Activity and Budget Plan, worth € 27,863,300, was voted on Friday with the vote against the only element of the opposition in the executive, PS adviser Dora Bradano.

João Manuel Esteves explained that "training human resources will be the big wage of the municipal executive in 2019, strengthening the social action school, awarding scholarships and refreshing school equipment."

The Social Democrat said the document also provides "support for repatriation of the county, providing better solutions for young people to acquire land at attractive prices and build their homes or for rent."

With regard to family support, the mayor said plans to "reduce tax and municipal taxes and invest in people's quality of life, either through the rehabilitation of public space or through services such as water supply and basic sewage."

João Manuel Esteves also stressed "a strong commitment to expanding business parks and promoting tourism in the province."

"The development strategy for Arcos de Valdevez is in line with the European Union and Portugal 2020. We want a more innovative, more sustainable, closest, more inclusive and connected municipality," he said.

Asked by the Lusa service, PS councilor Dora Branco said that "once again, the Social Democratic majority official gave a document" late and incomplete, without political guidelines, only by recording revenue and expenses " .

According to Alexandra, the document was delivered "by e-mail at the end of the day," the day before the debate, "when the legal minimum period is 48 hours."

Dora Brandão considered that the revenue provided in the document "is not strict because it considers the values for municipal taxes, IMI and IMT, that have not yet been discussed".

He also condemned the "allocation of funds to community councils," stating that "the protocols provided are of the same value, 30,000 euros, for all parishes regardless of the territory, population and characteristics of each."

"This impact should be based on demographic criteria as Arcos de Valdevez is one of the municipalities of the province of Viana do Castelo, which has lost more population in recent years," he said, arguing that the document "did not increase support funds for families ".
