The Minister of Energy and Mines, Francisco says the installation of solar panels on the floating islands of the Uros community, in the middle of Lake Titicaca, improves the quality of life of its population, benefiting about 800 families.
We come to officially inaugurate a project that is already a reality to bring electric light to the Uros people in the middle of Lake Titicaca, "she told Agencia Andina.
We are aware of the importance of providing electricity services to improve the quality of life of people living in remote areas of the country, for whom the government is developing such projects to meet this basic need, "the minister added.
For his part, the mayor of the Uros community, Rita Suaa, said that until recently it was inconceivable that electricity reaches its people, but now thanks to the solar panels children can study at night and their parents work craftsmen and build their rafts.
There will be almost 800 families (from the Uros community) who will benefit when the whole project is over and we have 485 solar panels installed to date, he said.
Now we can say that our state cares and the population of Uros has light, in addition promotes the work of water purification services, he added.
For the official inauguration of this rural electrification project, Francisco smofes moved to Tahuantinsuyo Island, which has seven houses that already have photovoltaic installations, which can be reached by boat half an hour from the pier of the city of Puno.
I think we should celebrate this moment when the Uros community has this service, which is good for the whole country, because that is the way to show that we are coherent and create equal opportunities for all Peruvians, said Francisco smodes (Andean)
