Vaccine – Adults should receive regular inoculation

In the long run, many new vaccines can be put in place, among others against chickenpox, Journalen magazine writes.

The proposal is included in a report submitted by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) to the Ministry of Health and Care.

The FHI is a completely new vaccination program for adults.

The goal is for adults who have not received infant vaccines to be able to take them. In addition, those who have received them will be offered regular refreshments to keep the result. Fresh over age 65, the program will also offer vaccination coverage against pneumococci.

According to the FHI, measures will lead to fewer visits and less antibiotic use.

retraining doses

All child vaccinations do not provide life protection. Therefore, it is recommended that all adults receive a diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and polio vaccine every ten years.

The FHI stresses that this applies to all adults, not just to those who are thinking of traveling abroad.

Resuscitation doses are important both for their personal protection and for maintaining high immunity in the population.

As is the case today, it is up to the individual to monitor his or her own vaccination and to find out when replenishment is needed. There is also a cost the person should get.

The FHI writes on its websites that in low vaccination coverage, the diseases we have in Norway today, such as poliomyelitis and diphtheria, can come back.
