Before their tour to New Zealand singer singer James Tim Booth revealed that his family had been evacuated from their home in California because of the fires there.
As he prepares for a concert in Auckland tonight, Tim Booth could be forgiven for being somewhat detached.
English pop singer James, who appears at The Powerstation tonight, keeps his fans up to date on his family and family in California.
He initially hoped that the prevailing winds would keep the storms of fire sweeping the state away from his property, but the 58-year-old later learned that his family had to be evacuated when the weather changed. Posting a photo of the fires, he said he was just five miles away from his home, but that his loved ones were safe.
"This is the future of global warming," he added.

Booth also revealed that guitarist Saul Davies would be playing in both Auckland on Sunday and at The Foundry in Christchurch on Monday night.
"Saul is not with us on this trip – it's a vertigo, but if you have not thought of it – do not go up a tall building (Hitchcock blasphemy!). In fact, the whole room turns and you are nailed to the floor and treated. "
Davies' position has been taken by Ricki Glover, Booth added.
