The MMA component announces the Asian eSports Championship – Tech News



Mixed martial arts uniform A championship on 7 November announced the launch of an eSports tournament next year in a $ 50mil (RM208.15mil) business as it seeks to tap the profitable world of video gaming.

"One eSports" will feature a series of events held in Asia, alongside the previously announced MMA events, according to One Championship held in Singapore.

It did not say how many eSports events would take place or where. The company will host 30 MMA events in 2019 in cities such as Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing and Tokyo.

"We see a natural crossover between martial arts and gaming fans in Asia and an opportunity to bring them together," said Chatri Sityodtong, president and chief executive of One Championship.

An eSports is a joint venture between One Championship and the Japanese advertising agency Dentsu. The Razer gaming company will also be involved in the initiative.

A Championship said it plans to invest up to $ 50 million with other business partners.

ESports are played and watched by millions worldwide, and competitions gain the dominant acceptance.

Tournaments of various styles of video games have grown in popularity, with shooting, strategy and battles for multiplayer teams evolving into major arena events.

Asia led the boom, with China the largest gaming market in the world.

In mixed martial arts, a championship faces competition from the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Las Vegas, which began organizing events in Asia. – AFP Relaxnews
