Call the bells: In Lithuania, the need for all blood groups has increased sharply

Road accidents, unplanned interventions, various accidents – events that can not be anticipated in advance, but require more than normal blood supplies and, for example, in the case of an influenza epidemic, extend to the ranks of permanent donors.

"The need for blood in hospitals is constantly changing and difficult to predict. One day, the need for a blood group can grow exponentially, but the next day, so we must always predict the situation and work together to be able to react quickly and provide the treatment groups with the blood of the group they need. This would be very difficult without the help of well-meaning people who always respond to the demands of our employees and are determined to become blood donors Tosh or do regularly, "says Igne Klangauskiene, head of the National Blood Center (NEC).

The blood donated by each donor is invaluable, so we are happy that people are not indifferent.

According to this, today the first negative C (I) Rh-, the second positive A (II) Rh +, the third positive B (III) Rh + and the negative B (III) Rh and the fourth negative AB the need. This was also influenced by the fact that the rest of the day has decreased in the last week, the leave of the students, when their parents, people of working age, differently planning their time, leave for holidays. Permanent donor classes have become more intense and sudden cold weather has begun to cool down, other infectious diseases, which require NCC to spend more time and effort to rebuild the required blood groups.

"In this case, we are taking additional measures – we are addressing the donors in person, we call on the heads of institutions and companies and their employees to come to donate blood, to organize donations free of charge in mass gatherings. The blood donated by each donor is invaluable, so we are glad that people are not indifferent and are becoming more and more aware of the importance of unpaid blood donation and when they donate blood they do it constantly. " I. Klangauskienė was pleased.

The NCC recalls that blood donors may be 18-65 years of age. When deciding to make a donation process, you should rest after drinking water or tea to have a personal identity document with you. After the disease, blood can only be given if the symptoms disappear more than 2 weeks before and the donor feels well.

Anyone who wants to sacrifice blood can do it in parts of the NKC in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, as well as in public events. At the weekend, residents of Vilnius can donate their blood to the CUP Shopping Center (River St 9, Vilnius). Opening hours – I-VI 11 am – 7 pm, 7 pm 12 am – 4 pm
