On Lacplesse Day, November 11, at sunrise, at noon. At 8 o'clock, activists of the so-called Latvian Latvian Front Front (LTF), again 30 years ago, again held the flag of Latvia at the Tower of the Holy Spirit of Riga Castle.

The noon The 14th day of memory is the afternoon and the event "Lacplesis Day in History and News" at the National History Museum of Latvia (LNVM).

It is difficult to describe the feelings and enthusiasm that took place on November 11, 1988, which was about thirty thousand people who gathered at the same time on the edge of Daugava for the time, in front of the Palace of Pioneers in Riga, the tower tower again red-white-red.

For decades, Latvia's forbidden state, the "Latvian people", was once again cautious, the flag flooded again over the Riga Castle after a 48-year interruption.

The protest was proposed, was undertaken and not without a trick, and was technically carried out by a team of Tafthonfront activists. It's funny to handle the same flag at noon. 16.15 agreed with the actor Ēvalds Valter (1894 – 1994) and the writer Albert Bell.

The flag was dedicated by Augustus Ålers (1914-1998), repeatedly injured by Soviet repressions.

It was the first time that the revolutionary flag was riding not only in the rally, but it was in a certain place to stay. It should be noted that on 22 October 1988, at the initiative of Cēsis Tautfronters, the Latvian flag for the eternal impeller had already been placed in the tower of Casas de Neu Castro.

Many thousands of people saw there, but the flag above Riga's castle had a completely different symbolic meaning. In addition, on 11 November 1988, Lacplesis celebrated the first time that Latvia lost its independence. After Sv. Flags of a Flag The flagship of the Latvian flags took over all of Latvia.

Restoration of the flag began on September 29, 1988, when the Presidium of the Latvian Supreme Council of the SSR (LPSR AP), following the pressure of peoples and commemorative days, family celebrations, cultures and mass events, approved the decree on its use red and white flag and used national and cultural historical symbols

But very soon, the efforts of the Riga City Executive Committee led by Alfred Rubik were at the end, at least in the capital, or neutralized red-white with a completely different symbol.

In particular, on 25 October, the Council of Representatives of the Peoples of Riga decided to restore Riga's Blue Bay model to Riga's historic coat of arms. On November 1, the executive committee announced that the Riga flag should be lifted "at the tower of Riga Castro forever".

A few days later, on November 3rd, a regular plenary session of the Latvian Creative Societies of the SSR was held, where academician Janis Stradiņš warned: "We need to look carefully at the decision of the Executive Committee to place the Riga Historic Flag at the Riga Tower, in order not to create a new social divide, the Riga historical flag, the revival of which we positively appreciate. "

The absolute majority of Latvians then wanted to see the Latvian flag above the castle, whose official rhetoric at the end of 1988 continued to be called the "Latvian cultural symbol" or "the flag of the Latvian people", multiplying the word "Latvian flag".

It should be noted that just before, a Lithuanian flag was placed in the Gediminas tower in Vilnius.

Academician J. Stradins used his arguments to achieve the goal diplomatically by using arguments from the collection of Soviet ideology.

Mr Stradin observed that the "Latvian flag" of Sv. Vermont and his "German counter-revolutionary army," against which the Latvians fought but mortally threatened not only Latvia but also Soviet power in Petrograd, were accused in the tower of Tower.

The flag above the castle had nothing to do with so-called urban Latvia, since the castle of Riga was neither Ulmanis nor the residence of the President at that time. "The flag symbolized the determination of the Latvian people to protect their freedom. This historic event must be respected," said the academician.

Fortunately, the Riga Executive Committee did not accurately specify which of the five towers of the castle that the Riga flag is pointing to. Mr Stradin proposed that a three-star tower be placed on the Riga flag, but Sv. Let the tower of the Spirit "on the Latvian flag".

On 4 November 1988 the Executive Committee met in an extraordinary session and decided not to oppose the increase of the red and white flag above the Riga castle as the use of this flag had been accepted by the AP LSSR Bureau at the end of September.

The Salaspils nuclear reactor is involved

In practice, the organization of the flag in cooperation with the LTF administration and the then director of the History Museum of Latvia, Ināra Baumanis and its representative, Arni Radina, participated in the so-called flag team.

One of the activists in this group, Paul Baron, then a professor at the Riga Technical University (now RTU), remembers that there were about ten or twelve people in the flag team.

"It was the same organization, then there was such a slogan:" Who, if not us, and when, if not now. "The people participated dynamically and voluntarily, come when you need it, the answer was too long, says Baron and says that it is worth mentioning the former legionnaires, the retired VEF electrician Auxolou Avgo, who was the "organizational soul" of the flag team and whose editors in the apartment in Old Riga were gathering.

Whatever the decision at the meetings, I had to talk to the current Palatial Palace Governor in Riga first to unlock the door of the tower stairs and allow me to appreciate the situation of Sv. At the top of the Tower of Pyrgos. It has been successfully done about a week before 11 November.

The upper part of the tower was in a great deal of trouble, but it has proven that the previous marker position remained – about a meter high end of the pipe with the remains of the broken oak flag. The diameter of the flange from the stainless steel tube was 12 meters in length.

The materials for his production had to "look for" and "take" in a different place, including the Salaspils Atomic Reactor, whose people had learned the goals and willingly made the pipes. The web was glued into pieces.

Students of the Polytechnic Institute took it to the castle. The web was pulled from the outside of the tower. After that, professional technicians, again "from a friend", got up and stabilized the structure in the positions. The whole process took "two nights and one day".

Mr Baron admits that his surname helped later and later (Paul Baron is the little grandson of Krisjanis Baron). When the official moment came and the whole embankment was full of people, "the cookies already felt like nobody stopped".

Some militias also came up, but there were no objections, because everything was coherent.

Changing the flag 41

The flag team continued to take care of the flag of Latvia over Riga's castle until the process was instituted and the castle came to the care of the President of the Republic.

Paul Baron notes that 41 flags have changed during the band's existence. Through the wind they ran quite fast. Sometimes the flag did not change, but it broke and flushed – because of the pollution of the atmosphere, the white strip became gray. "When washed, there was a smell of sour cabbage. What can you want from the polluted air!" Smiles Baron.

The first flag we saw today in the LNVM exhibition lasted for a week, and the next Baumane museum director and Radin's deputy invaded on November 18, 1988. Typically, flags are being watched by some of the prominent celebrities.

The previous owners of the previous flags were kept in the warehouse. The ritual was created by the pastor after the initial words and the reduction of the old flag. Latvian national anthem is sung for dancing.

This ritual-emotional, 30-year event will remind our flag team members that they are still in the middle of the ceremony – once again celebrating the Latvian national flag this Saturday at the Tower of the Holy Spirit of Riga Castle.
