Influenza: vaccination starts in October, even in pharmacies – Health

The flu vaccination campaign starts in less than a month, like last year due to the pandemic. The Determination of the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) was published in the Official Journal which allows the update, for the season 2021-2022, of the composition of influenza vaccines approved in accordance with the national procedure for registration, mutual recognition and decentralization.
Pharmacies will also be taking part in this year’s vaccination campaign, as provided for in an amendment to Legislative Decree 105 of July, which has already been approved in the Chamber and is currently in the Senate. According to the provision, pharmacists, who have already attended the training of the Higher Health Institute for the vaccine against Covid, will also expand their activity to the flu immunizer. They will be able to vaccinate the drug in people aged 18 and over. The service, Federfarma explains, will also cover those eligible for the free vaccine: fragile and in the age group of 60 onwards. Returns will come from the regions.
