The Ronday Memory Campaign invites the public to share the precious memories of their loved ones who have suffered from dementia, while offering this worthwhile cause.
By sharing a memory and donating € 3 to ASI, citizens can give a gift that will change life, as each donation will be directed directly to provide vital services to people living with dementia and to the loved ones who support them.
Citizens can either buy a Memory Ribbon from a member of our staff or from volunteers across the country on Thursday, November 22, or at www.alzheimer.ie
More than 700 local volunteers from across the country – including several local schools, men sheds, corporate partners and the Irish Women's Association – will sell Memory Ribbon pins at € 3 each to be sold on roads in communities, towns and cities across Ireland .
The Mobile Bus Information Service, which is run by trained staff and volunteers and creates a unique opportunity to raise awareness about dementia, will be in Bray, Co Wicklow on a day with staff ready to answer questions from the public and volunteers sell memory ribbons.
The famous choir CÓRus will be produced outside the Gaiety Theater from 13:00 and the Choir of the Popular College will be featured at the Jervis Street shopping center from 12.00.
The Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, fundraising head Mairéad Dillon, said:
"Dementia has a devastating effect on families, such as home care, care and support teams that help thousands of people to deal with." Alzheimer's society in Ireland has not been adequately funded and demand for services has risen steadily, so we really need support this Christmas if we want to keep vital services for those who desperately need them.
"Sharing memory and donating € 3 to the Alzheimer's Memory Ribbon campaign, citizens will give a gift that will change life. Every 3 euro gift will go directly to providing vital services to people living with dementia and their beloved families support.
"Every ribbon bought by citizens will go directly to help finance vital services such as our 51 day care centers throughout the country providing specialized care to people with dementia or our home care service providing trained dementia workers the comfort and safety of their homes ".
