Over 25 and under 54 years of age, passengers of "Macedonia"

The age group of passengers over the age of 55 is an important category to be worthwhile, said Giorgos Villos, General Director of Development of FraportGreece, and this is the subject of a study conducted by Fraport Greece for several months. Mr. Vilos from the conference's 34th Philoxenia conference on "Tourism 55+ Development Leverage to Longen the Tourist Period" presented for the first time the results of the Fraport survey conducted in March for the profile of the passengers.

It appears from the first findings that the percentage of travelers at Thessaloniki airport "Macedonia" is a dynamic public between 25-54 years, while passengers belonging to the age group over 55 years old account for 15%.

Mr. Villos stressed the importance of this study, which is a tool for all tourism professionals and organizations and especially because it will be enriched with new data and data from year to year, which will also give rise to comparative data.

Most airport passengers, according to the findings of the study, have a high educational level, with 79% of them having university education. They come from Germany, England, Russia, Cyprus and Israel. This, as Mr. Villos noted, is of particular importance, since it differs from the overall image of Greece, with the UK, Germany, Italy, France and Italy in the top five. "It shows us the connection and special ties that Thessaloniki has with Israel, Russia and Cyprus," he explained.

With regard to the solar group over 55, it appears that 58% are foreign residents (of which about 11% are Greeks living abroad) and travel mainly during the summer months. "This shows us that there is scope for attracting more tourists and for the rest of the months, and that efforts can be made in this direction," he said.

The category of 55 and above, he added, are people who want safety, comfort and experience travel experience and maturity.

It is also worth noting that according to the survey the more than 55 travelers spend more time in Thessaloniki than the 25-54 age group.
