The leaker l0vetodream has started an Easter surprise: The iMac will appear this year with a much larger screen. Built-in will be a new Apple Silicon processor, which will be significantly faster than the M1 currently installed on the MacBook Air, Mac mini and 13-inch MacBook Pro.
The iMac is currently available in 21.5 and 27 inch versions. The latest model is already quite large and takes up a lot of office space, but Apple is said to be designing a 32-inch model that is as large as the Apple Pro Display XDR. There are also rumors that the 21.5-inch model will be replaced by one with a 24-inch screen. If the edge of the image becomes narrower, the end result could be that the devices are just larger than the previous ones.
New case with narrow rim
Visually, the iMac needs to change completely. The current design is about eight years old and has not been revised since. However, when the M1 processor was introduced, Apple did not change anything in the case of the Mac mini, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
According to rumors, the new iMac should be very similar to the iPad Pro, ie it should have sharp edges. Maybe Apple will also take the whole step and bring an iMac in the design of the Pro Display XDR to the market.
When is the new iMac coming?
Apple has already removed the iMac Pro with the Intel processor and some variants of the small model are no longer available for the iMac. We expect Apple to introduce the new iMacs in the coming months, perhaps even in different body colors from the first iMacs.
