Milwaukee winners and losers get Trading Tony Snell and 30th choice for Jon Leuer

The rumors began as whispers earlier this week when Marc Stein mentionted Milwaukee Bucks offered a "compensation plan" to exchange either Tony Snell or Ersan Ilyasova. These whispers turned to action late Wednesday night when Adrian Wojnarowski reported Bucks agreed on a deal with Detroit Pistons.

In return for Tony Snell and the 30th selection in 2019, NBA Draft Pistons sent Jon Leuer to Milwaukee. This will mark his second stint with Bucks after choosing him with his 40th rebound in 2011. His first Bucks tour lasted only one season before he traded away. His second will probably be much smaller.

Bucks' main goal with this trade was to reduce the salary. They have already completed a part of this with the acquisition of Leuer, who is set to make $ 2.1 million less than Snell in 2019-20. They also saved $ 12.4 million from their ceiling in 2020-21, as the Leuer contract is only one year compared to the two Snell.

Bucks' moves will probably not stop with this trade as they are expected to step down and stretch the Leuer contract and create even more room to reach July 1st. Stretching Leuer will create an extra $ 6.3 million in cap space this season. It also means that $ 3.2 million will be paid for each of the next three seasons. The money that counts on their lid.

The deal will become official before the Bucks make their choice on Thursday night, so let's take a look at the winners and losers of this deal.

Winner

Brooke Lopez

The Bucks were desperate to understand a way to pay Lopez what he deserved after his fantastic 2018-19 season. Prior to this move, they had no way to give him anything more than the excellent exception on average, which was a little over $ 5 million next year. Now, Bucks should have a lot more money to give him.

If Milwaukee ends up stretching Leuer, he will create $ 14 million in capitalization after Nikola Mirotic leaves. Some space that would lead mostly to Lopez's return. Splash Mountain is unlikely to get all this money, but it's still a big upgrade for a basic group in Bucks 60-win.

Loser

Bucks' drawing

The 30th option was Bucks' only choice in this year's plan. This means it will be a quiet night for fans in Milwaukee. However, it is probably just good practice for the future, as Bucks are extremely low in choices in coming seasons.

Milwaukee has no choice in the next year's draft. They grant their protected first round choice to the Phoenix Suns thanks to the trade Eric Bledsoe. The second round of their choice also goes to the New Orleans Pelicans. But they will have their first 2021, but they will not have a second round. It's more than the same in 2022 when their first round choice goes to Cleveland Cavaliers.

Winner

Running back

The extra space on the lid also means Bucks are more likely to be able to bring it back to the same group (minus Mirotic). This is great news for a team that came in two races to reach the NBA finals. The championship is also wider opening next season than in the recent memory. If Milwaukee can get the gang again, they will be favorites to conquer the title in 2019-20.

Loser

The Tony Snell game

The Tony Snell game became famous under Jason Kidd and continued in his absence last season. It is a thing of beauty and part of the worship of Bucks.

The work included Yannis Antekoudouba and Spyla himself. It was an incredible set and what usually came from the man of Antetokounmpo who played him when he had the ball. As the Greek Freak dribbled the stadium, he would run unofficially toward the corner where Snell was. Suddenly, he had quickly reached the last two steps, gave the ball away to Snell and put a screen on his man to release the shot. It was gorgeous. Unfortunately, we have to live in our memories instead of at the stadium.

Winner

Bucks Stretch-ees

If / when Milwaukee ends up stretching Leuer, he will join Spencer Hawes and Larry Sanders on the list of players who still pay Milwaukee, even though they do not play for them.

Hawes is going to make $ 2 million next season despite the last game for Bucks, or for the NBA on this issue, in the postseason 2017. Fortunately, he will come out of the books after that. The same can not be said for Larry Sanders, who will cut a check from Bucks through the season 2021-2022 despite the last game for them in 2014-15. It will earn $ 1,865 million in each of the next three seasons.

Leuer will participate in Sanders to win money for the next three seasons if he is stretched. This is a significant time and money ($ 3.2 million a year) if you resign and stretch. Although this will save money from Milwaukee this year, they also have to think about long-term consequences.
