The British Range Rover Sport completed its first tour on some of the toughest roads in the UK. The Range Rover Sport prototype faced the difficult Coventry peripheral road, successfully changing the ribbon, combining the rest of the traffic and leaving the junctions at a maximum speed of 60 km / h.
The test was part of the $ 20 million government-sponsored UK Autodrive project and was completed after a three-year program. Land Rover engineers carried out significant tests on autonomous closed loop technology before launching the public road network at Milton Keynes and Coventry.
The new Range Rover Sport was chosen for its dynamic and performance as an adaptive auto pilot but was modified to include additional navigation sensors, radar and more. In conjunction with the UK Autodrive program,
the car can now deal autonomously with circular crossings, traffic lights, pedestrians, cyclists
and other vehicles on compound roads. It can also park completely independently. Coventry's ring road is famous for its sophisticated entrances and exits. This creates many difficult conditions, especially when a person is under stress at peak time. Our stand-alone vehicle is unaffected by the same intensity, frustration or fatigue a driver can face in order to turn a potentially stressful situation into a completely relaxed, "said Mark Kund, independent Jaguar Land Rover vehicle manager.
Jaguar Land Rover's highly skilled engineers have also developed relevant features as part of the UK automotive industry. Technologies that improve safety and reduce emissions,
use the Internet to connect cars to each other and to the infrastructure, for example a traffic light.
The UK Autodrive project has helped accelerate the development of future autonomous and related Jaguar Land Rover technologies. It strengthens the position of the Midlands as a Mobility Innovation Center.
Britain's largest carmaker, based in Coventry, is working on fully and partially autonomous vehicle technologies to offer a choice between spontaneous and autonomous driving. The vision of the company is to make its vehicles as accessible as possible to the broader range of ground and weather conditions, always giving the customer the opportunity to regain control.
