Marcelo Lopes – Levantamenro detects eleven districts of the descendants with Aedes Aegypti

The Injury Index in Cataguases 2.82% of mosquitoes, according to research

The rate of infection in Cataguases is 2.82% of mosquitoes, according to the survey

The Control Center of the Municipal Department of Health carried out the fourth phase of the fourth LIRAa and the LIA of 2018 from 22 to 26 October respectively. These are the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus (LIRAa) and Amostral Index Survey (LIA), which are methodologies used to identify and map the presence of dengue and other disease mosquitoes in the municipality, an initiative encouraged by the Ministry of Health.

According to Cosme Tadeu Alves da Costa, Coordinator of the Endemic Control Unit, the fourth survey coincides with the rainy season of the year and should therefore be considered more important – not that the other surveys are carried out every two months are not important – as they are the time that favors the multiplication of players. In this fourth stage, the number of properties investigated by groups of endemic agents in the city was 1,027, of which 29 revealed the presence of Aedes aegypti, corresponding to the mosquito infestation index of 2,82%.

pictureAlso, according to the report presented by the sector, 33 districts were surveyed, of which 11 showed positive results. The survey also detects the main deposits, which are the areas where the presence of mosquito cases is more frequent. These are jars or jars with water, bowl containers, drinking water taps in general, decorative fountains and building materials. The number of properties in the presence of Aedes albopictus was 8 and the mosquito infection rate was 0.78%.

The results of the LIA showed rural areas in the presence of vectors when 936 properties were investigated, of which 11 had Aedes aegypti, indicating a 1,17% infestation. Ten sites were examined and four had positive results for the mosquito. In the rural area, the main deposits were ships or jars with water, boat dishes, tap water, decorative fountains and building materials, as well as tires and other rolling stock materials which, according to Cosme dos Santos, are capable of being removed . Even in the report, ten properties were present in Aedes albopictus, meaning an infection rate of 1.07%.

It is worth recalling that the rate of insult supported by the Ministry of Health is less than 1% and the results leave the Municipality on the lookout. "This is because, as we are in a rainy season, the numbers are tolerable and this year we had more worrying rates," the coordinator said. He also stressed that the rainy season should always be considered with greater concern because it is a powerful element in triggering a possible epidemic of mosquito-related diseases. Furthermore, it underlines the importance of continuous monitoring of the population, regular care of possible mosquito cases. "It is known that 80% of these outbreaks are in the homes and the population must know that they are part of this control," he said.

Cosme dos Santos also said that as a strategy to combat operators, Endemic Control Center maintains its day-to-day work of countering and eliminating deposits. Surveys show the most critical areas where work is being done with greater emphasis, by working all the parts of the areas where the results were positive with the application of larvicide and mechanical control, which is the elimination of deposits, an action that began immediately after results of LIRAa and LIA. The coordinator also said that according to several infectious doctors in the country, the next year is likely to have a dengue epidemic, as the rain at the end of 2018 was higher than in the previous years, dengue is a seasonal disease, and studies show that epidemics occur every two years. "But it is possible to interrupt this cycle by sensitizing the population and the work of all of us so that the dengue is actually eliminated by our country," he concluded. (Photos: Archive)
