9 to 5 Google reports that the chipset is codenamed “Whitechapel”. The Pixel phone is expected to arrive this fall. The idea is that the chipset will appear on this phone.
As mentioned earlier, Whitechapel SOC can be used on phones and Chromebooks. The news came that Google is working with Samsung to make the processor.
A recent report from 9 to 5 Google states that the Google chipset is connected to the Samsung Exynos chipset. Google Whitechapel is built with Samsung Semiconductor Large-Scale Integration (SLSI).
Not just Whitechapel, but some of the Google Chip code names listed in the Google 9 to 5 report. Such names include “GS 101”, “Slider” etc. Keep in mind that Google Silicon can be the full version of GS.
The slider, on the other hand, is considered to be “the first Whitechapel SOC shared platform.” 9 to 5 Google reports that Slider is working on other projects. The code names of two such works are “Radhaven” and “Oriol”. These two code names are intended for the upcoming iconic pixel in the fall, one of which could be Pixel 7.
Google declined to comment. Meanwhile, companies such as Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi have announced that they will make devices with their own chipsets. Engadget commented that there is nothing strange about Google following the same path.
