$ 2 million Fine for large fence leakage

The Australian Carnival has paid a $ 2.1 million fine for spreading 28,000 liters of liquid food waste to the Great Barrier Reef's protected waters.

The Australian Authority for Maritime Safety held the Pacific Explorer cruise ship on its way back to Sydney in early September until the fine was paid, AMSA spokesman said on Thursday.

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park was notified of the accident one week after the cruise company reported it.
