Shortly after the Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch3 received an update unlocking the ECG function for European countries, Samsung is now providing the Galaxy Watch3 endogenous capabilities to the original Galaxy Watch and Watch Active.
So far, the update is being distributed to US and Korean owners, but it will likely be global soon enough. The original Galaxy Watch upgrades the firmware version R810XXU1FUB6 while Active2 gets R500XXUF1UB5. Both are now running Tizen 5.5 as opposed to Tizen 4.0 when they were first released.
These new features include support for AR Emoji and Bitmoji, images appear in your notifications, voice guidance for cycling and running, continuous scrolling screenshots, and guidance via Bluetooth-enabled headphones. Of course, there are other improvements in stability and performance.
